The University is a comprehensive, evangelical, Christian university located 26 miles northeast of Los Angeles, California.A' Hire, supervise, and collaborate with executive directors from the Student Center for Reconciliation and Diversity and Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence;A' Represent the president and university on diversity matters, internally and externally;A' Cultivate an interactive and accessible relationship with Academic Cabinet, PresidentA cents € (TM) s Council, Provost Staff, and Office of the President members;A' Support and encourage strategic diversity goals for the university;A' Manage the universityA cents € (TM) s bias incident reporting system;A' Develop a strategic framework to prevent, reduce, and respond to any incidents of bias or hate;A' Chair the Diversity Collaboration Committee and serve on other relevant councils;A' Oversee periodic university-wide diversity campus climate studies and other assessment of diversity initiatives;A' Plan an annual diversity Leadership Summit training;A' Engage with students, staff, faculty, administration, board members, and external constituents;A' Pursue and manage relevant outside funding/grants for university diversity programs; andA' Meaningfully engage the board of trustees on issues of nondiscrimination, institutional data, access, and equity in higher education institutions. The VP/CDO also provides diversity resources/trainings for the board.A' A successful candidate should also demonstrate cultural humility along with being comfortable in building relationships of trust with various communities and constituencies that comprise the university A cents € " s/he understands the contexts and cultures within the institution that impact the implementation and management of effective diversity change efforts. Candidates will exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to inspire and influence others A cents € " possessing well developed problem-solving skills and be adept in finding win-win solutions to difficult problems, building consensus and support, and reconciling competing interests. Further, a passion for creating a diverse and inclusive university A cents € " a willingness to challenge and engage in weaving a web of support for all constituents should be evident.A' Candidates with an earned doctorate (PhD is preferred) in the social sciences, higher education, ethnic studies, or a related field from an accredited institution are invited to apply. The candidate should have a minimum of five years of diversity education including working with budgets and managing staff in an institution of higher education is required. Candidates should also possess an active involvement in diversity and inclusion research and scholarship.
